Annual Volunteer Banquet Held April 25th

The RSVP/VIC (Retired Senior Volunteer Program/Volunteer Intergenerational Center) of Cape Girardeau and Scott Counties held its Annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet on April 25, 2017 at the Eagles Aeries #3375 in Cape Girardeau.  There were 160 in attendance this year. The a cappella group, Blend, provided entertainment which included music from the 50’s and 60’s, a few Elvis Presley tunes, and gospel. A meal was provided and a drawing for door prizes was held at the end of the event.

The RSVP/VIC programs in Cape Girardeau and Scott Counties have over 1,300 volunteers serving more than 100 not-for-profit agencies. These volunteers performed 82,747 hours of community service according to 2015 statistics. Volunteers are honored annually during National Volunteer Week (2017 National Volunteer Week-April 23rd to April 29th) for the generosity of their time, talents, and resources to the benefit of others. If you know someone that is a volunteer, take a moment to thank them. And better yet, become a volunteer yourself! The opportunities are endless.
