Freedom's Never Free Traveling WWII Memorial coming to Piedmont July 4-7

Dear Veteran Supporter:

The Piedmont Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Freedom's Never Free Traveling WWII Memorial.  This WWII Memorial will assist in honoring all veterans and their families during this Wayne County Bicentennial year.  The Memorial will be displayed July 4–7, 2018 on the Greenway.

The Freedom's Never Free Memorial is the only Traveling WWII Memorial available in the United States.  The Memorial is a scaled-down replica of the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. and consists The Wall of Freedom which includes 4,048 stars each representing 100 American soldiers killed, the Atlantic and Pacific Pavilion and 56 Pillars representing States, Districts and Territories that existed during the WWII Era.

This event could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for many veterans and their families to honor their fallen WWII heroes, as well as, all those who served in WWII.  There are many WWII Veterans who have never had the opportunity to visit their memorial in Washington, D.C. and due to finances, health or other reasons, will not have the opportunity to see their memorial honoring them and their sacrifice.  It is also a great time for veterans of all eras to come together for support and healing and reminding all Americans of the sacrifices made for the freedoms we have today.

We are asking individuals, civic organizations and businesses in Wayne and surrounding counties to join us in this huge undertaking as we honor our veterans during this Bicentennial year.  The cost and expenses to bring this Traveling Memorial to Piedmont on July 4, 2018 is approximately $5,000.  Along with funding we will need manpower to set up and take down the Memorial, as well as, volunteers in other areas such as providing 24-hour guarding of the Memorial, and providing information to visitors. For more information about the Traveling WWII Memorial, you can visit their website at www.freedomsneverfree.com.

Please consider a generous donation to support our efforts in honoring all veterans and their families this Independence Day.  If you have any questions, please contact Carol Starner at 573-223-4046. Donations can be made out to the Piedmont Area Chamber of Commerce and mailed to: PO Box 101, Piedmont, MO 63957.

Thank you,
