The Kennett OAKS Senior Center is the recipient of the building previously occupied by the Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) in Kennett. The building, located at 100 East Harrison, was donated by VNA when they moved to a larger facility in Kennett.  Currently located in the Kennett Housing Authority, the senior center has outgrown the space and is limited to what activities and services can be provided to area senior citizens.                 The RSVP/VIC (Retired Senior Volunteer Program/Volunteer Intergenerational Center) of Cape Girardeau and Scott Counties held its Annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet on April 25, 2017 at the Eagles Aeries #3375 in Cape Girardeau.  There were 160 in attendance this year.       The RSVP/VIC program held their 3rd Annual Horseshoes for 'everyday' heroes on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Al Friga farm south of Chaffee. A beautiful fall afternoon it turned out to be. This unusual twist on horseshoes adds to the fun. The players used wooden horseshoes to test their skills at 18 pits, everyone different.       The Aging Matters Nutrition Program held their annual Cooks Conference on October 19, 2016 in Cape Girardeau. In attendance were 60 cooks and administrators from 28 senior centers.
